CPJ member Richard Moore completed the inaugural Nant Yr Arian Silver Trail Half Marathon as a VI Guide on Saturday for Louise Simpson, paralympian (Goalball)
On a day where races elsewhere were being cancelled due to the adverse weather conditions, Richard and Louise braved the freezing cold to complete the challenging course. 576m ascent, the route takes in forest, trail, fire road, field, technical and moorland, as well as 3/4 mile of tarmac. It also included an ankle deep ford across the Nant Du which was “cold, icy cold!”
Richard had this to say: “What a day guiding Louise Charlotte Simpson round the Nant Yr Arian Silver Trail half marathon. A brutally hard off road event in harsh sub zero conditions with gale force winds across the hills of mid Wales. Crossed the line in 4 hours 42 minutes. Was a humbling privilege to guide Louise today. This is why Olympians are Olympians, they push their limits to achieve their goals.”
A totally amazing achievement for both Richard and Louise.
