It was a day by the seaside for the Castle Point Joggers on Sunday, for those who took part in either the Brighton 10k or Marathon on Sunday. With near perfect running conditions, there were some amazing performances.
Debbie Dunn and Kairen Hart completed the Brighton 10k.
Debbie completed the course in 52.49
“It was a bit cooler than last year, a good atmosphere but still really tough going along seafront knowing I had to come all the way back to finish lol”
Kairen achieved a new PB, finishing in 53.15.
“Really enjoyed it today, most probably because it was perfect weather for running, unlike last year. Again very well organised and the bag collection seemed better. Although didn’t put my bag in this year as last year was a nightmare. And I got a pb, so good day all round”
6 CPJ completed the marathon – 2 of whom achieved a PB.
Richard Bonham put in an impressive performance, finishing in a time of 3.23.34 – the fastest marathon he has run since 2007! Colin Dunn was the 2nd CPJ to finish with a new PB of 3.52.39. Tracey Bradley was the only CPJ Lady to complete the marathon, finishing in a time of 4.25.42 – over 20 minutes faster than in 2017. Ryan Fox absolutely smashed his PB, finishing in 5.42.52 an astonishing 1 hour 18 minutes off his previous PB! Mark Whitney and Rory Fox also completed the course in 4.43.33 and 5.30.36 respectively.
Richard “Great Marathon, support around course was fantastic everybody wanted to give you high fives or sweets or fruit”
Ryan “Training over the winter was very tough but today makes it all worth it. Any idiot can run, but it takes a special kind of idiot to run a marathon!”
